10 THINGS TO DO WITH TODDLERS AND BABIES IN TORONTO

A client's question inspired this post – the best things to do and places to go with babies, toddlers and crawlers in Toronto!  If you are looking for things to do with baby on maternity leave, you are not alone.

It reminded me of how hard it can be for a first time mom to find age-appropriate places in Toronto to take babies and toddlers. In the Summer, us Toronto moms can go take our bubs to parks, the beach, and spend time outside. In the Winter, it gets a bit trickier to keep them entertained.

For all moms who want baby and mom activities in Toronto, I got you. Here's 10 things to do with toddlers and babies in Toronto:

1. Early ON - Artscape (180 Shaw St.) , College-Montrose Children's Place (FREE)

There are many Early ON locations in Toronto and the GTA. However, I cannot say enough good things about this Early ON at Artscape. The space is great, the staff is so friendly, professional and fun. My little one loves it. They have circle time and snack time, lots of toys, space to crawl around.

What are Early ON centers? EarlyON Child and Family Centres offer free programs to parents/caregivers and their children from birth to six years of age. These centres welcome all families to participate in quality programs. You can find a location close to you on their website. It is completely free and you don't need to register.

2. Canoe Landing Community Recreation Centre (45 Fort York Blvd.) (FREE)

They have drop-in hours at this centre to use their playroom. It's great for toddlers to run around and explore, as well as older infants.

3. Gymboree Play and Music (85 Laird Drive)

I haven't personally been to this one but have heard great things about it. They have programs for different age ranges and babies get to socialize and have fun!

4. High Junction Gymnastics (2340 Dundas St West)

Gymnastics for babies and kids, starting as early as 9 months old of age. I've also heard so many good things about this. Their twinkle stars program is for baby and mom / parent and it introduces them to the world of gymnastics. Best part? It is combined with a music class by Songs With Nash!

5. Songs With Nash (various locations & virtual)

Nash uses music, dance and stories in a circle time class! Her class helps babies improve cognitive development, practice core skills, build a sense of belonging and most importantly, have fun! When I was looking for things to do with my baby in Toronto, Songs with Nash was highly recommended.

6. Baby Hammock Class (4750 Yonge St Unit 326, North York)

If you're looking for things to do with baby in North York area, definitely worth trying this dance studio! They offer a "Happy Baby Program" which includes dance and music play, ritual of greetings, relaxing light show and aerial hammocks (!)

7. Local Libraries Baby Time

Many libraries offer "Baby Time" or "Family Time" where they read stories and kids get to play and interact. For babies, parents and caregivers. Best of all, it is totally free.

8. Toronto Ripley's Aquarium

For babies, toddlers and older children: the aquarium membership is such a great investment! For $100 + tax per adult, you get unlimited access for one year. There is so much to see, your baby will be mesmerized. Lots of interactive areas for kids too! Regular individual tickets are $44 + tax.

9. Swim Lessons

I think all babies should do swim lessons. So fun and so good for them!

City of Toronto offers swimming lessons at a super affordable cost. The first level to sign up is Guardian Swim 1. Once your baby completes this, you can move on to Guardian Swim 2. Alternatively there are many well-recommended swimming schools for babies such as Water Babies.

10. Drop - in Swim

Community centers also offer drop -in hours for baby and kids swim. Check out their website for more information.

I hope this was helpful - If you're new here, I'm Jess: family photographer and mama of 2 in Toronto. I will continue to share things to do in Toronto for families here and on my Instagram page. Follow to stay tuned :)
